About Herders

Herders (U) Ltd is a registered agribusiness research and consulting company in Uganda. We primarily work with livestock and poultry farmers interested in improving the productivity and profitability of their enterprises through participatory data-driven interventions.

At Herders, we recognize that every farmer’s dream is to realize their production goal (which may range from profit to eating home-grown animal products). While our consulting services generally cover most aspects of animal production, we are particularly motivated in the area of animal breeding and genetics.

Animal Genetics

Genetics plays an important role in the animal’s ability to meet the farmer’s needs. However, the production environment is equally important and finding the balance between the two helps us optimize the animal’s abilities. This is where animal breeding comes in and we work with the farmer to identify genetics best suited to his/ her production goal.
